Good morning all,
We have a handful of items I wanted to relay to the membership from recent events and the board meeting Monday night.
The Hot Hundred
The Hot Hundred was very successful on 7/30. In addition to raising money for the club, we assisted in our partners with the Tuscaloosa Mental Health Alliance in raising more than $17,000 for their organization.
Thank you to all of the people who volunteered in some fashion to help make the event possible. There are a lot of moving parts and it could’ve never happened without you.
We know a handful of areas where we can improve for next year, but we also received a lot of compliments on the many things we did well.
After a short break we will begin looking forward to next year.
Board Positions
On Monday night the board nominated and approved Stephen Glenn as our interim President-Elect (VP). Stephen will serve out the rest of the year on the board in that role.
In December we will have 4 board positions up for election. If you haven’t served on the board and you are interested, please reach out to a board member. The following positions will be open:
President (It will be unique this year and only be a one year term), President-Elect(VP) will be a two year term serving the second year as the President, Secretary (two year term), and Gravel and Mountain Bike Liason (two year term).
If you would like more information on those roles, you can read them in the bylaws or reach out to a current board member for discussion.
Parking Lot Party
The next parking lot party will be on August 30th and will be sponsored by the folks at Trek Tuscaloosa. Make sure to hang out after the ride for pizza and beverages!
Fall Party
We are working on planning a ride/party in October at Lake Lurleen State Park to be open to cyclist from all disciplines. Road routes as well as Trail routes will be planned and followed by lunch with hotdogs and hamburgers. We are tentatively aiming for 10/1, and will update you all very soon with more details.
Gobblecross
Now that we have finished up the Hot Hundred, we will begin looking forward to Gobblecross. It will be held this year on November 20th. We will be looking for volunteers to help with that event as well as sponsors! If you haven’t been involved with it previously, it is a lot of fun. Last year was my first year helping with it and I thoroughly enjoyed it. More information will be coming soon.
As always the meeting minutes are on the website and if you need anything, please feel free to reach out!
