Community Engagement

At DCBC, cycling is about more than riding bikes—it’s about strengthening our community. In addition to advocating for safer and more accessible cycling throughout West Alabama, we contribute thousands of dollars each year to local charities, nonprofits, and community initiatives.

We are proud supporters of youth cycling in Tuscaloosa through our partnerships with Little Bellas and Tuscaloosa Mountain Flyers, helping the next generation discover confidence, leadership, and a lifelong love of cycling.

We also work closely with our friends at the West Alabama Mountain Bike Association to support trail construction, bridge maintenance, signage, and other improvements that make local mountain biking and gravel riding opportunities accessible and enjoyable for all.

Beyond cycling, we are committed to keeping our community beautiful. DCBC participates in roadway adoption programs and hosts annual Sanders Ferry clean-up days because we believe investing in the places where we live, ride, and gather helps create a stronger community for everyone.

Whether through advocacy, youth programs, trail stewardship, charitable giving, or community service, DCBC is dedicated to making a positive impact both on and off the bike.

Our History

The Druid City Bicycle Club (DCBC) was founded in 2002 and is a registered USA Cycling club and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and growing cycling throughout West Alabama.

In 2012, Tuscaloosa Mountain Flyers was established to introduce young riders to mountain biking while developing confidence, fitness, leadership, and a lifelong love of cycling.

In 2016, Beth Mitchell founded the DCBC Ladies Ride, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for women of all experience levels to ride together, build friendships, and grow their confidence on the bike.

In 2019, the Tuscaloosa chapter of Little Bellas was launched, bringing a unique mountain bike mentorship program for girls to our community and further expanding opportunities for youth involvement in cycling.

Today, DCBC continues to advocate for cycling through education, community outreach, charitable giving, youth development programs, and cycling events. As a nonprofit organization, our mission is to foster the sport of cycling locally, nationally, and internationally through bicycle safety education, advocacy, amateur cycling events, fitness, recreation, and community engagement.

For those interested in supporting cycling advocacy and community programs through charitable giving, estate planning, sponsorships, or one-time donations, DCBC has the structure in place to make your contribution meaningful and impactful. Every gift helps us continue investing in cycling opportunities throughout our community.
